JOB TITLE:

Lecturer, Special Education

JOB PURPOSE:

This position supports the College of Education’s Special Education Undergraduate and Master’s program in Special Education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Lecturer position will be affiliated with the Department of CLAD. This position will consist of a 4:3 teaching load across undergraduate and graduate classes. These classes will occur in both face-to-face and online learning environments. The candidate will be expected to teach classes that focus on supporting students from the high-incidence and low-incidence populations.

Additionally, the roles and responsibilities of this position include supporting ongoing curriculum development and participating in program evaluation. Candidates that exhibit strong collaborative skills will be given preference.

The candidate will have strong interpersonal skills. Further, the candidate will possess digital literacy skills that will allow them to teach online learning classes. The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following: Multi-tier Systems of Support, Assessment, Collaboration, IEP Development, Behavior Management, or Assistive Technology

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This role involves critical support for campus activities and necessitates the successful candidate to be available for on-campus work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters Degree in Special Education or a closely related discipline by date of hire.
Minimum of 3 years special education related teaching experience
Demonstrated potential for success in teaching face to face and online courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Commitment to contributing to academic program development at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong background in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS).
Desire to engage in professional development
Commitment to collaborative work and maintaining partnerships within public schools, particularly in rural settings.
Demonstrated record of teaching online at the college level.
