JOB TITLE:

Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Instructional Professor - Fluids

JOB PURPOSE:

The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) of the University of Wyoming includes 10 departments and the newly formed School of Computing. The College prides itself on research innovation, teaching excellence, industrial engagement, and broader societal impact. With a significantly increased budget, we have embarked on a transformational journey to become a Tier-1 Institution, recognized nationally for academic excellence and world-class research. This includes new state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated funding for research initiatives. We are hiring a cohort of new faculty across the College, and we seek to attract a diverse and inclusive group of talented early-stage faculty and established researchers.

CEPS invites applications from qualified candidates for an Assistant Lecturer and/or Assistant Instructional Professor position beginning August 2024. This is a full-time, 9-month, benefitted positions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the position include:

Teaching 7 undergraduate courses in Engineering Science per academic year with possibility for course release.
Essential to this position is the ability to teach Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Dynamics.
Service to the college and university, including:
Coordinating courses in Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Dynamics.
Participating in strategic efforts in improving our Engineering Science program.
Developing new Engineering Science courses as needed.
Assisting in managing the Engineering Science program.
Professional Development, including participation in state and national professional organizations.
Assist in special projects affecting the Engineering Science program.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

M.S. degree in Engineering or closely associated area.
Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate Engineering courses at the university level
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. degree in Engineering or closely associated area.
Experience and/or ability to teach Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Dynamics
Demonstrated teaching excellence.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated use of innovative teaching methods.
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
Ability to teach ES courses in Statics, Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Dynamics.
Ability to teach courses outside of Engineering Science.
Awareness of various teaching philosophies and innovations.
Formal training in teaching and learning.
Research experience in education.
Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or ability to obtain licensure.
Professional experience in Engineering, or related field.
