Major Duties:

Operates a super conductive Magnetic Resonance Imager (MRI), a highly complex computerized imaging device which employs the use of strong magnetic fields and radio waves to acquire images.
Observes patients during procedures and reports complications or unusual events.
Performs computer work and required forms associated with patient exams, Research Consent forms, and VA Consent forms for Research studies.
Assists in developing and maintaining current and new Research protocols on imaging devices in the Department.
Assists in the improvement and implementation of MRI Safety guidelines for patients, staff, and implants.
Performs clinical analysis of data recorded by the computer and records the computer data on film, magnetic tape, and printer plotter paper.
Maintains inventory of lab, medical, and computer supplies and initiates procedures to replenish stock and to receive stock supplies.
Responsible for the quality assurance of the image (positioning/label/technique/network information) prior to transmission to the PACS network.
Provides education to patients and their families on imaging procedures in MRI.
