What we want

The Psychologist III provides multiculturally competent mental health counseling and outreach to individuals, couples, and groups. This position provides training seminars, professional expertise, and may supervise assigned staff. You will assist in the coordination of counseling services, programs, and the development of new programs.

What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.

Required Education:

Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or other degree acceptable to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP)

Five years full-time equivalent, post-licensure experience in college or university counseling center or other relevant setting

Required Licenses and Certifications:

Licensed in the State of Texas as a psychologist

Become licensed in Texas as a Psychologist within one year from date of employment

Must maintain licensure for continued employment

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Clinical competency in multicultural counseling

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Adherence to the Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct for the relevant Texas State Licensing Board and all relevant laws of the state of Texas

Responsibilities:

Clinical Services & Clinical Supervision

Provides mental health counseling as well as crisis intervention to individuals, couples, and groups.

Provides outreach presentations for students, faculty, and staff members about counseling services, programs, professional development topics, issues, etc.

Administrative Needs

Meets ethical obligations for timely documentation of counseling services per State of Texas licensure requirements and Counseling & Psychological Services policies.

Engages in counseling related activities including administering and interpreting psychological tests/inventories, making referrals, and managing various organizational and administrative aspects of counseling cases.

Provides training seminars for early career professionals.

Supervision & Consultation

Provides consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents.

May provide supervision/training including review of recorded sessions and case review for pre-doctoral interns, post-doctoral unlicensed psychologists, and/or practica students.

May provide adjunct supervision for masters and doctoral degree graduate students in counseling, counseling psychology, and graduate assistants.

Seeks consultation from peers and leadership for difficult clinical cases per State of Texas licensure requirements.

Departmental Needs

Serves on departmental committees and meetings, division and university committees, and other university functions.

Assist in the coordination of counseling services and programs, development of new programs, and organizational and administrative tasks.

Professional Development & Research

Per state licensure requirements, participates in continuing education and professional development activities related to the performance of job functions and maintenance of skills in one’s professional specialty area.

Engages in applied research and evaluation activities. Provides professional presentations as appropriate.

Performs other duties as assigned.
