Role Summary:

The Psychologist III will deliver culturally competent mental health counseling and outreach services to individuals, couples, and groups. This role includes conducting training seminars, providing professional guidance, and potentially supervising staff. Responsibilities also encompass the coordination of counseling services and the development of new initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education:
Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a degree recognized by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP).

Five years of full-time equivalent, post-licensure experience in a college or university counseling center or a similar environment.

Licenses and Certifications:
Must be licensed as a psychologist in the State of Texas.
Must obtain Texas licensure within one year of employment and maintain it for continued employment.

Proficient in multicultural counseling and clinical competencies.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate effectively with others.
Commitment to ethical standards and compliance with Texas state laws.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Services:
Provide mental health counseling and crisis intervention for individuals, couples, and groups.
Conduct outreach presentations for students, faculty, and staff regarding counseling services and professional development topics.

Administrative Duties:
Ensure timely documentation of counseling services in accordance with state licensure requirements.
Engage in counseling-related activities, including administering psychological assessments and managing case documentation.
Facilitate training seminars for early-career professionals.

Supervision and Consultation:
Offer consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents.
May supervise and train pre-doctoral interns and unlicensed psychologists, including reviewing recorded sessions.
Seek peer consultation for complex clinical cases as required by state licensure.

Departmental Engagement:
Participate in departmental and university committees and functions.
Assist in the coordination and development of counseling services and programs.

Professional Development:
Engage in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain licensure and enhance skills.
Participate in applied research and evaluation activities, providing professional presentations as appropriate.
