The Director of Engagement Services oversees the strategic management of two essential drop-in centers and an innovative outreach team, facilitating access to vital services for youth ages 12 to 24. The role drives the development and execution of diverse outeach methods, including street engagement, community event participation, and technology-driven connections. Collaborating within the Program Director team, the Director enhances processes, establishes policies, and creates impactful pathways for comprehensive youth support.
This position requires a strrong harm reduction and restorative practices framework, supporting client mediation, crisis intervention, client re-entry meetings, grievances, and collaborative case conferencing.
Lead the operation of two drop-in centers as key access points aligned with organizational goals
Supervise Program Managers to support a team of case managers, counselors, specialists, and receptionists delivering trauma-informed, restorative, and harm reduction-focused services.
Guide the outreach team using diverse methods, including technology, street outreach, and community engagement.
Enhance operational processes, policies, and procedures to optimize service delivery.
Assess services’ impact through data analysis, collaborating with the Research and Evaluation team.
Serve on the agency’s Senior Management Team, fostering inter-departmental collaboration.
Youth Engagement and Services
Develop staff capacity for welcoming, client-centered care responsive to youth needs.
Support the development of engaging and beneficial programming for Outreach and Engagement and Community Center (ECC) teams.
Ensure effective deliver of basic needs services.
Oversee, evaluate, and develop programming within engagement services.
Team Management and Development
Provide guidance during critical incidents, including debriefing with staff and youth.
Contribute to strategic planning for expanding engagement and outreach services.
Oversee budgets, data collection, tracking, contract requirements, and program outcomes.
Advocacy and Community Engagement
Develop and maintain partnerships with community providers, including on-site clinic and security services.
Support outreach and ECC teams in program calendar development.
Represent the organization in community events, conferences, collaborations.
Participate in on-call consultant rotation in collaboration with other leadership staff.
Availability to work some weekends and holidays. In partnership with the Director of Larkin Street Academy and Development Team, host Harvest and Winter Festivals in the ECC.
Actively participate in agency-wide diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) efforts
Promote collaboration, cross training and dual programming among program teams within the division and throughout the agency.
Perform tasks and responsibilities in a complete and timely manner, complying with agency policies and standards and conforming to the scheduling requirements of this job description and program.
Maintain a creative, team-building and cooperative approach to job performance and seek to bring a constructive, problem-solving orientation to all tasks.
Maintain an awareness of the agency’s mission and work to promote the positive individual and social changes it embodies.
Exercise discretion and professional judgment at all times, keeping with the responsibilities carried personally and by the agency for the care and welfare of youth and families.
Actively strive to upgrade professional skills through engaging in appropriate professional training and experience.
At least three years of management and supervisory experience.
At least five years of experience working in social service supervision or delivery.
Knowledgeable of the following behavioral health theories and capable of integrating them across Larkin Street Youth Services programs: Excellent written and verbal skills in English language, including public speaking.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Previous experience overseeing program design and development, implementation and operations, project integration and management across multiple agency sites; staff supervision and training; and budget management.
Ability to work with a diverse staff and excel in a multi-cultural environment.
2- 3 years of experience working with transition-aged youth, especially experience working with high-risk, homeless or runaway youth
~ Experience in managing union staff and ensuring supervision and staff support meet standards of a collective bargaining agreement.
