Propose and lead independent research projects focus on novel semiconducting quantum devices, controls, or characterization techniques.
Work collaboratively with other APL staff to identify emerging challenges with quantum solutions.
Support ongoing programs in quantum information science by making immediate contributions to efforts that are looking to implement quantum characterization, control, and error protection strategies in semiconducting spin qubit systems.

Have a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Have 2+ years of experimental experience with quantum, condensed matter, or cryogenic systems.
Have a proven record of research accomplishments and publications in the field of quantum science.
Are willing to occasionally travel to sponsor sites, conferences and workshops.
Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI+poly level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Have significant hands-on experimental experience with semiconducting spin qubit design, quantum dot tuning, RF control, and/or dilution refrigerator operation.
Have a record of significant contributions on projects pursuing highly sophisticated objectives.
Hold an active TS/SCI+poly security clearance.
