******WE ARE OFFERING A $1,000 SIGNING BONUS FOR THIS ROLE******
*Schedules are subject to change based off the needs of the Hospital and the Department. Training Days/Hours TBD**
*This position will pay $22-$32 hourly DOE*
**Overall Responsibility : The Surgery Technician supports three board certified surgeons and the related patient care of surgical cases. The surgery team is a dynamic group within an ER and Specialty Hospital that has a busy caseload of elective and emergency procedures. The surgery technicians participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. The Surgery Technician assists with various surgeries including soft tissue, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and other advanced surgeries.
Under the supervision of the Anesthesiologist and Surgeons, administers medication and manages/monitors patients during surgical procedures—including pre and post op care and anesthesia recovery.
Performs IV, IM and SubQ injections, IV catheter placements and advanced veterinary technician skills (arterial catheter placement, epidural administration, splint placements).
Assists with all types of surgery, anesthesia, and other procedures as needed.
Participate in surgery team responsibilities that facilitate efficient patient care: setting up and turning over Operating Rooms, preparing exam rooms and instruments, completing daily safety and cleaning duties.
Perform and assist with all aspects of animal restraint for exams and procedures.
Communicates with clients, including financial estimates and collecting payment.
Interfaces with and assists other departments within the hospital as needed.
Ability to think quickly and react in stressful situations. Four years’ work experience as Veterinary Technician and two years must include Critical Care/ICU or surgery/anesthesia. Must be registered in the state of Colorado as a Veterinary Technician or be able to become registered upon hire.
Veterinary Technician work experience running anesthesia in a Specialty Hospital with board certified surgeons.
Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Veterinary Technician certification preferred.
It also requires routine lifting and restraining of animals in excess of 50 pounds.
