M52 Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring is a 9-bed unit specializing in treatment of patients with seizure disorders, post-surgical seizure focus removals and those needing medication adjustments. Our state-of-the-art unit evaluates more than 700 children annually and is accredited by the NAEC as a level 4 epilepsy center; having the professional expertise and facilities to provide the highest level medical and surgical evaluation and treatment for children with epilepsy.
Our pediatric nurses are trained to care for children with the most severe problems and to assist our young patients and families as they navigate the numerous challenges they may face. We recognize that when a child is ill or injured, the role of the family is essential in the child’s recovery and we embrace the principles of Family Centered Care.

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implements and monitors patient care plans.
Monitors and documents patients condition and effectiveness and timeliness of care and/or interventions.
Evaluates, updates and revises plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
Assesses and coordinates patients discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Provides teaching and educational material as appropriate.
Validates and documents patient and family understanding of teaching.
Maintains professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Within one year of hire RNs in Childrens Hospital and Childrens Hospital for Rehabilitation will achieve and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) with the exception of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit RNs who must achieve and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through American Heart Association (AHA) provider status and RNs in the Special Delivery Unit, who must achieve and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Work Experience:
Minimum one year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required for acute care settings.
Personal Protective Equipment:
~ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
