Our interdisciplinary treatment team is composed of psychiatrists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, social workers, case managers, art therapists, recreational therapists, behavioral health technicians, division clerks, and more.
As a Registered Nurse in Senior Mental Health at Lutheran Hospital, you will engage with complex medical histories, innovative surgical procedures, pain management modalities, and comprehensive nutritional support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Monitor, document, and communicate patients' conditions as necessary.
- Develop and implement patient care plans.

Essential Functions:
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Evaluate, update, and revise care plans to achieve desired outcomes.
- Serve as the primary coordinator for all disciplines involved in patient care.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing protocols.
- Document and execute physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
- Provide educational materials and teaching as appropriate.
- Validate and document patient and family understanding of educational content.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required. If working in a Critical Care area, an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained upon hire or within the first year of employment.
Registered Nurses in specific areas will need to achieve and maintain additional certifications as outlined by their department's requirements.
Work Experience:
A minimum of one year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting is required for acute care environments. Experience in skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation, or emergency departments may also be necessary depending on the specific care setting.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Compliance with standard precautions using personal protective equipment is mandatory.
