Within Collins Aerospace we work alongside FPGA, hardware, systems and software teams in order to seamlessly embed our advanced technology into our communications product portfolio. Our state-of-the-art embedded software and test solutions support commercial customers such as Airbus and Boeing, US government projects and many more.



*Design, develop and continuously enhance our customized Linux OS ecosystem and maintain ownership over areas such as build toolchain, kernel, root filesystem, bootloader, device drivers, and BSP for a wide variety of hardware boards.

* Contribute to the design, coding, testing, delivery and ongoing support for embedded Linux software and drivers

* Prepare software builds for execution in a simulation environment, reference platforms and on the target hardware.

* Apply industry best practices and capabilities to assist programs with deployment, implementation, modernization, and support of DevOps solutions.

* Support software tool customization and automation, including deployment of templates, dashboards, and scripts to support program needs.

* Assist our team with development and support of build/test pipeline and integration, optimizing for performance and scalability across both cloud and onsite computing environments.



*Elements of the embedded Linux OS ecosystem lifecycle and embedded test solutions, utilizing company processes and policies regarding open-source content and third-party intellectual property.

* You will continuously develop DevOps skillsets that can be applied to a multitude of physical and virtual infrastructures.

* The connectivity and secure networking technologies of today and tomorrow, which we count on to maintain world leadership in the avionics industry.

* Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

* 5 years of experience as a command line user of Linux, with mid-level skills in embedded C/C++.

* Experience with scripting languages (Bash and Python).

* Experience with embedded Linux device drivers.

* Experience with board bring-up and target hardware integration.

* Experience with DevOps methodologies.

* Experience deploying and supporting Gitlab CI/CD tooling, pipelines, and automation. Experience provisioning cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS.

* Experience with Linux System Administration and general working knowledge of networks, storage, and virtualization.


*Experience packaging custom Linux distribution with Buildroot.

* Experience in developing and maintaining Linux board support packages (BSP) for embedded systems.

* Experience using Linux Docker.

* Experience with Agile methodologies.

* Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively identify and resolve issues and mitigate risks.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
