PRESIDENT AND CEO

JEWISH BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF GREATER BOSTON (“JBBBS”)

JBBBS, a Big Brother Big Sisters (BBBS) of America agency, is a nonprofit social services organization with a mission to transform lives by providing comprehensive, clinically-informed, one to one mentoring services to children and their families. This includes matching for the LBGTQ community, children with Type 1 Diabetes, and high school students in need of college mentoring. We are proud to be the first BBBS agency connecting adults with disabilities to new friends in their communities through our Friend 2 Friend mentoring programs and events. JBBBS has an annual budget of approximately $2.4 million run by a team of 17 employees. Our annual fundraising campaign in 2023 topped $1.6 million, through an effort lead by the agency’s executive team in partnership with our Boards. Our clinical staff of 9 oversees approximately 400 matches each year and is proud to welcome participants and volunteers of all religions, races, ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, and sexual orientations.

JBBBS is seeking a dynamic, inspiring, and compassionate leader with well-honed managerial skills who will guide the organization in its commitment to reach strategic goals, continue to embrace a culture of accountability that fosters a collaborative working environment and optimally fulfills its critical mission. The candidate must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to represent JBBBS in the greater Boston area community. POSITION SUMMARY

The President and CEO is responsible for leading and managing JBBBS reporting to, and in partnership with, the Chairs of the Board of Directors and Endowment Board of Directors.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provide strategic leadership and internal management for the entire organization, ensuring that JBBBS continues to deliver strong program results, has sustainable funding to support and grow JBBBS programs, and remains a key player with external networks both within and outside the greater Boston Jewish Community including Combined Jewish Philanthropies.

· Serve as the JBBBS representative to BBBS and its Large Agency Alliance, continuing JBBBS historic role as a key founder and contributor and a key member of its national Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) initiative.

· Oversee the Senior Management Team in translating strategy, mission and vision into annual organizational goals, work plans, performance metrics and regular reporting.

· Interface regularly with the Board Chair and the Endowment Board Chair as well as members of the various Boards and committees, including the preparations of agendas for all Board, Endowment Board and Leadership Committee Meetings and new Board members’ Orientation.

· Regularly attend all Board and committee meetings.

· Serve as the primary spokesperson for JBBBS in the community, building on existing relationships with community members, agencies, funders, volunteers and others to ensure a strong reputation and brand recognition.

· More specifically:

o Maintain a high-performing organizational culture with a talented and diverse staff where JBBBS team members feel supported, challenged and respected while being focused on organizational goals and values

o Build and cultivate key relationships, especially with JBBBS fiduciaries and other major donors, grow the existing donor base and create additional funding through new donors, foundation grants and corporations

o Implement the short and long term strategic plans with the Boards of JBBBS

o Oversee all financial and operational functions of the Director of Operations, including weekly payment of bills and any HR related employment issues as well as outsourced vendors for financial management, payroll and Human Resources

o Prepare, maintain and forecast the annual budget with outsourced Head of Finance

o Perform all other functions normally consistent with the role of the CEO of a non-profit agency similar in size to JBBBS

Qualifications

· Master’s degree or higher

· 5+ years’ experience working with programs for children/families and/or adults with disabilities preferred

· Prior work or lay leadership experience in Jewish Communal Leadership a plus

· Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills

· Comfortable with innovation, metrics, databases and change efforts

· Experience in fundraising a plus

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

· Primarily in person at Waltham, MA headquarters.

· Required to sit at a workstation/computer for extended periods of time and keyboard for prolonged periods of time.

· Working some nights and weekends is anticipated. Minimal work travel is anticipated.
