Marion County Health & Human Services is looking for an empathetic and driven individual who wants to support our enrolled individuals to maintain their independence. This position is with the Qualified Mental Health Associate team within Adult Behavioral Health. The team helps individuals meet the goals outlined in their treatment plans. The ideal candidate would have experience in motivational interviewing techniques, knowledge of Serious & Persistent Mental Illness ( S P M I) and be able to build rapport with a diverse group of individuals. We will be looking for someone who can navigate challenging situations with empathy and a person-centered approach, while working in a collaborative team-oriented environment. G E N E R A L S T A T E M E N T O F D U T I E S Provides individual and group recreational, social and skills training services under a professionally developed service plan; keeps records of persons served status; performs service plan directed case management functions under close supervision; performs related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is to assist and support other mental health professionals, without primary responsibility for a caseload. S U P E R V I S I O N R E C E I V E D Works under close supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness. S U P E R V I S I O N E X E R C I S E D Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following Provides skills training, outreach and support to clients in the Supportive Housing Program and New Day Apartments. Provides case management and skills training; coordinates services with outside agencies. Supports clients to move toward recovery and community integration. Assists with a variety of daily activities such as medication management, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, obtaining benefits and scheduling appointments. Assists clients with treatment goals, appointments, Activities of Daily Living ( A D L) in the community via Skills Training, Activity Therapy, Case Management, and Medication Support. Engages clients in increasing their ability to be more self-reliant and recovery-based. Provides transportation to appointments and shopping when medically indicated. Communicates with other mental health professionals and team members frequently through progress notes, e-mail and telephone calls. Advocates for clients with other mental health providers, physicians, landlords and others. Completes clinical record documentation in timely fashion. Meets performance expectations for time and billing standards. Actively participates in team meeting decisions during team development for service delivery model. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training. Requirements for the Position E X P E R I E N C E A N D T R A I N I N G Three years relevant work experience in a behavioral health services field; O R Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field; O R Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County. S P E C I A L R E Q U I R E M E N T S (individual recruitment will specify details) Must possess a current Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon ( M H A C B O) Qualified Mental Health Associate certification ( Q M H A) or register within ninety (90) days of hire, and complete in accordance with M H A C B O guidelines. This is a full-time position, which is eligible for overtime. Typical Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am. - 5:00 p.m., with flexibility depending upon the needs of the department and program. K N O W L E D G E, S K I L L S, A N D A B I L I T I E S Working knowledge of the general concepts of mental health (including common symptoms for major behavioral health conditions) and chemical dependency as well as community resources; de-escalation, crisis intervention, and engagement strategies; strengths-based resiliency and recovery models; definitions of basic- and community-living skills; measurable goals/outcomes of mental health recovery, substance use disorders recovery, and co-occurring disorders recovery; evidence-based strategies for skills training and improving overall health; daily living activities that promote health and wellness. Ability to demonstrate active listening skills and interviewing techniques; establish effective working relationships with diverse individuals and foster shared decision-making with behavioral health consumers, family members, and providers; clearly convey information about behavioral and general health; exercise cultural and trauma-informed competency when linking to resources; follow directions and accept feedback in a professional manner; prepare reports and document services provided to persons served in a timely and professional manner with clarity, conciseness, and completeness; work within an interdisciplinary team; practice appropriate boundaries with consumers; recognize unsafe situations. P H Y S I C A L R E Q U I R E M E N T S Operates a motor vehicle; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; bends forward; climbs 1 floor of stairs; lifts, pushes, pulls and carries up to 15 lbs.; moves carts weighing up to 15 lbs.; operates a keyboard; speaks clearly and audibly; reads a 12-pt. font; hears a normal level of speech; works in areas that may be exposed to heat, cold, humidity, dust, smoke, and noise; works in areas that may be wet or uneven.
