Active Solar Development is a growing Community Solar Development and Engineering, Procurement and Construction company located in Ballston Spa, NY (45 minutes North of Albany and 15 minutes south of Saratoga Springs). We are looking for an experienced, skilled and passionate hands-on Payroll Manager to support the growing complexity of prevailing wage/certified payroll and associated compliance and reporting aspects of our business. Active Solar has a multi-company structure and about 80 employees. This is a Monday-Friday in office position (5-6 hours per day between 8:30-5:00 with some flexibility). We will be moving to a beautiful, brand new building this fall
The successful candidate will possess a high degree of HRIS/payroll system proficiency, including system setup and reporting, be highly detailed and already have some experience with construction and certified payrolls. This position reports to the Director of Corporate Operations and VP of People and Operations.
Collect, track, and review certified payroll compliance documentation from contractors and sub-contractors via through LCP Tracker for correctness and compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Includes certified payroll review, apprentice ratio and utilization reporting.
Sends correspondence for missing documents and requests revised documentation with the applicable contractors' staff to ensure compliance.
Actively supports operational goals and objectives through reviewing current labor laws and complying with owner/agency's labor compliance requirements, actively managing risk associated with certified payroll requirements and proactively resolving challenges and issues as they pertain to project specific Labor Compliance.
Set new employees up in time tracking software and payroll processing software (Paylocity) and maintain and update current employees' information. This includes setting up earnings codes, tax schedules, deductions (i.e., Process weekly payroll for 6 companies that includes one company of prevailing wage work. Includes multiple union wage category review per person and job costing (jobs and activities).
Responsible for accurate leave accounting records.
Provides administrator support including system setup, data-maintenance and reporting for HRIS (Paylocity), 401k (Empower) and benefits trusts. Provides HR and payroll reporting (internal and external). Must have a high degree of proficiency with excel, manipulating data and running reports for systems.
Conducts regular compliance audits and reconciliations across payroll and benefits platforms.
Provides additional HR and Corporate operations support as needed.

~ Certified payroll experience.
~5+ years of payroll experience.
~ You make work easier and faster by using available systems to their max and also recommend and help implement new systems.
~ You are highly collaborative and are not afraid to ask for help and communicate with the team fluidly.
~ You are on the front line when there's a "fire drill" and are willing to do whatever it takes to put the fire out (but you do everything you can to prevent).
~ Payroll and HR certifications and related education preferred.
~ Must be able to work in the office Monday-Friday. 30-40 Hourly Wage
