This role oversees the management of the Munich legal entity AstraZeneca Computational Pathology GmbH and its site facilities, acting as one of its legal representatives (Managing Director / ‘Geschäftsführer:in’) with joint signature authority, assuring compliance with local legislation as well as alignment with the needs of the local business / science teams whilst bringing an AZ Enterprise mindset to ensure alignment and optimization with the Global ways of working.

What you’ll do

Site Management:

  • Provide Integrated Facility Management (IFM) services supporting the Munich site

  • Direct the responsible investment of the Munich Site Operations Expense Budget to provide, maintain and operate the company’s facilities assets to ensure full and beneficial operations.

  • Close collaboration and alignment with GERE, finance, and procurement to support growth and change across the Munich site.

  • Direct the responsible investment of the Munich Site Operations Capital Budget to renew, upgrade and modify site facilities assets in response to changing business requirements and identified process optimization improvements.

  • Assemble the appropriate set of multidisciplinary professionals which integrates support of people, process, and technology to ensure the safe, secure and sustainable functionality of the built environment.

  • Monitor, assess, repair and upgrade facilities, systems and utilities to ensure the facility fully support the occupants and functions housed within them.

  • Ensure all appropriate physical security measures are implemented at Munich facilities through deployment of security services provided by an external service provider.

  • Lead the transition to new Munich site with GERE team and establishing joint ways of working with the Alexion leadership within the new facility

Legal

  • Manage all legal aspects for the entity, with external and internal legal support, including assessment and implementation of new German legislation requirements, AZ intercompany agreements, third parties or research collaboration agreements and legal document execution – closely liaising and collaborating with AZ shareholder and relevant group stakeholders

  • Responsible for contract management and signature authority according to articles of association of legal entity and its local SOP’s, DOA including vendor/risk assessment process (3PRM)

  • Collaborate with AZ Global Intellectual Property (GIP) and Trademarks team to assure legacy and new patent & trade marks management. Monitor GIP process to assure employee invention & remuneration acc. German Employee Invention Act

  • Direct onsite functions with support from local Data Privacy Officer to ensure compliance with all relevant GDPR (DSGVO) requirements and AZ Data Privacy Policies

  • External relationship management with auditors, public authorities, bodies and third parties

Finance:

  • Responsible for Accounting & Tax, Controlling, Purchasing, Business Performance, with power of attorney

  • Management of Chartered Accountants, Controllers as required to support the needs of the Munich Site.

  • Working with Local and Global finance teams to ensure appropriate financial accounting for AG and Definiens INC, USA according to HGB & IFRS, continuous financial process & automation improvement, particularly in ERP system

  • Working with finance and procurement to ensure optimization of purchasing process & supplier management and related SOP’s

  • Determine & implement new business models aligned with Global AZ practices, for invoicing, revenue recognition, COGS incl. framework of standard contracts with customers

  • Financial evaluation of all type of customer agreements from Services projects to clinical collaboration

  • Oversee the continuous advancement of technology driven innovation for energy efficiency, sustainable design and business practices which impact employee productivity, business efficiency, and external perceptions of the company.

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Services:

  • Provide integrated Site SHE Services to support and enable ongoing R&D and business operations.

  • Implement an effective SHE Management System in compliance with Global Corporate Standards and external regulations.

  • Protect the health and safety of key stakeholders including employees, contractors, visitors and others affected by Munich Site Operations.

  • Identify risks and hazards associated with site activities and implement programs and procedures to eliminate, control or minimize hazards.

  • Operate Munich Site Operations in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.

  • Ensure compliance with Environmental regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Integrate Business Continuity Planning and Loss Prevention into Site Operations business processes, planning, and decision making.

Budget Management:

  • Manage Munich Site Operations Budget. Estimate, track, forecast and report budgets and sub-budgets; analyze trends and make budget recommendations.

  • Assemble, build, and create cashflow forecast for Site Operations expense budget including headcount forecast.

  • Assemble, build, and create capital budget, business justifications and presentations for Capital Review Board.

  • Develop Long Range Operating Plan for Munich Site Operations including capital and expense budgets.

Oversee Office Space Planning:

  • Conduct total occupancy planning for the Munch site.

  • Define space planning budgets, finalize project concepts and prepare final documents for approval.

  • Coordinate moves, adds and changes in office areas. Communicate with group leads and department heads to work through space needs and determine space assignments for staff.

  • Coordinate office refurbishment activities, coordinate office control, cleaning and maintenance to ensure overall quality.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Provide guidance, support and coach Site Operations Leadership Team to develop high-performing work teams within their functional areas.

  • Ensure site compliance in day-to-day operations so the outcome is consistent with AstraZeneca and local standards.

  • Utilize knowledge and communication skills to change the thinking of or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations.

  • Direct and control service areas through management team with overall responsibility for the performance of those assigned areas.

Essential for the role

  • Master degree or higher in Economics, Business Administration

  • Experience in general management experience (Finance, Legal, Operations) in a senior role

  • Solid industry knowledge in Pharma, Biotechnology, Life Science, Medical Device or Software

  • Leadership & coaching skills

  • Business partnership skills, ability to engage and influence cross functional teams

  • Collaboration, negotiation, facilitation, conflict management skills

  • Communication, Presentation, project management experience

  • Ability to prioiritise and work to deadlines
