Job Site Location United States – Nationwide Responsibilities CDM Smith’s CEI team in Mississippi (Jackson to Starkville) – Natchez Trace Parkway is seeking a candidate to inspect and monitor construction activities at the project site(s). The inspector must be able to perform the most complex inspection activities for at least two of the five categories of construction inspection: Roadway, Bridges, Drainage, Erosion & Control, and Maintenance & Traffic. The candidate will work under limited supervision or direct supervision depending on demonstrated knowledge for the assignment. Work will require knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction; geometry and basic mathematics; the ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, drawings, contract provisions, and specifications; and strong communication skills. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Certifications from a State Highway Agency or a national entity such as ACI (American Concrete Institute) or NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction. Valid driver’s license. Four years of related experience (equivalent directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree). Background Check and Drug Testing Information CDM Smith reserves the right to require background checks, including criminal, employment, education, licensure, credit, and motor vehicle records. Drug testing may be required for designated positions. Background checks occur after an offer of employment. Successful completion of required checks is mandatory for employment, though criminal history does not automatically disqualify a candidate.
