Special Information This position may be eligible for a statutory base pay increase of $1.00 an hour effective July 1, 2026. Position may be covered by a VEBA (Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association). Job Overview Assist AIS Prevention Management team to maintain consistency and quality control across the state. Essential Functions Risk Assessment (55%) Perform decontamination practices for watercraft, categorize vessels for decontamination, routing or holding. Leader Responsibilities/QAQC (35%) Coach and lead staff on protocols, resolve basic problems, recommend process changes, document and report observations. Inspection Station Set-up / Take-Down (10%) Install and remove station daily, including signage, electronic readers, cones, and shelter. Physical and Environmental Demands Outdoor work, often in inclement weather and remote locations. Must be physically able to lift up to 600 lbs of signage and equipment, climb, bend, stoop, squat, reach, crawl, and work on uneven surfaces for long periods. Must be able to: prepare for long hours exposed to the elements with primitive shelters camp outdoors for several days in variable weather conditions work with potentially hostile or uncooperative people maintain constant contact with the public, co‑workers, and supervisory staff Travel may be required 100% of the time. Schedule may include extended weeks of 8 days on and 6 days off. Competencies Teamwork – Ability to work with others toward a common goal. Public Service – Willingness to serve the public and protect State resources. People Skills – Ability to build productive, positive work relationships. Minimum Qualifications The knowledge, skills and abilities of this position are normally attained through a high school diploma or equivalency. Must have a valid driver’s license. Preference is given to those candidates who can commit to working the entire season.
