Position description The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science at UC San Diego (hwsph.ucsd.edu) invites applications for an Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientist position to contribute to new and ongoing public health research studies. The school is committed to excellence and diversity and focuses on health, equity, justice, and well-being. It conducts research and instruction in various public health disciplines and hosts multiple research cores and collaborations with the university and community. Position Duties: The Assistant Project Scientist will contribute to NIH- and state-funded research projects focused on health economics and health policies related to cannabis and other drugs. Responsibilities include evaluating the causal impacts of drug policies, product attributes, and marketing activities using econometric modeling of observational datasets and experimental research. The role includes developing large-scale population surveys, designing and implementing experimental research protocols, and recruiting human subjects. Techniques used include econometric methods (causal models, advanced regression, demand curve estimation, structural modelling) and latent class analysis. At UC San Diego, Project Scientists are academic researchers who contribute to a research team with supervision and may publish and carry out research or creative programs. Teaching responsibilities are not required. Appointments vary by project length and funding. Appointment level (Assistant/Associate/Full Project Scientist) is based on the candidate's background and experience.
