MDM Data Architect

The MDM Data Architect is responsible for the architecture and architectural deliverables for Cook Medical IT MDM environments. In alignment with enterprise architectural practices, they work closely with a team including MDM managers, data engineers, solution architects, software engineers, and operations staff to ensure a high quality, well-designed, and functioning IT data environments.


Essential Job Functions/Duties

  • Define an appropriate set of deliverables and processes for activities in the MDM architectural domain
  • Collaborate with other members of the architecture team and subject matter experts to define the future state and influence priorities across IT technology to enhance and mature MDM data capabilities.
  • Conduct analysis of industry best practices, market offerings, and Cook opportunities to be proactive in advancing capabilities.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate potential technical risks per strategy or project.
  • Prepare and communicate integration strategies for the Oracle Fusion MDM Platform
  • Prepare and communicate roadmaps for solutions that consume or provide master data into the MDM platform.
  • Plan the retirement of solutions that are replaced by the MDM platform.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architect and data architecture practice to ensure that standards are appropriate for the data domain
  • Agree deviations from standards for individual projects
  • Work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams to deliver well-designed MDM solutions and help mature support staff procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communications throughout various levels of the global organization.
  • Ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision.
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others to achieve company goals.

Products include the following:

  • Oracle PDH (Product Data Hub) – Product domain
  • Oracle CDM (Customer Data Management) – Party Domain
  • Oracle Cloud Integration – data integration platform
  • Snaplogic – future integration technology for API and data integration
  • Azure – cloud platform for current DevOps and other workloads


Minimum Work Experience/Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology, engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in data engineering, data architecture, and/or data modeling.
  • 5 years in an MDM architecture role
  • Knowledge of data pipeline tools and scripting/programming languages.
  • Expertise in data modeling and data architecture principles and toolsets
  • Proficiency with data engineering principles
  • Proficiency with Oracle Fusion MDM platform capabilities
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend new technology capabilities and apply use
