Job Title : Data Analyst Senior

Locations:. : Onsite (Hybrid) in McLean, VA on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Job Description:

Must have: Must have 3+ years of hands-on experience with data transformation and reconciliation. Must be proficient with Excel. Must have advanced querying experience and have worked with SQL. They should have experience in the finance industry (accounting) - Previous fintech would be ideal. Should have experience with general ledgers/sub ledgers. Should have experience using python for analysis.


Notes:

  • The project includes working on a large-scale platform that primarily does financial and risk forecasting / modeling.
  • The Analyst must have solid experience and knowledge in SQL, Python, advanced Excel, data analysis, UAT testing (Unit testing) and requirements writing. The analyst must be able to work with developers to test the data and reconcile it as needed.
  • The Analyst must also have Finance / Accounting experience i.e., knowledge of subledger data, general ledger data, understanding of loans, handling financial data, mortgage-backed securities (MBS), mortgage financials, automating regulatory accounting processes etc. The Client expects the Analyst to have experience in as many areas as possible.
  • SQL and Python are used to extract data, analyzing the data, transform complex datasets and reconcile data from various databases and sources.
  • The Analyst must have excellent knowledge of Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP etc.).
  • A degree in Accounting OR Economics OR Finance etc. is highly preferred.

Qualifications:

Degree in accounting, quantitative finance, statistics, mathematics, economics, data analytics or a related quantitative field preferred, with 1 – 3 years of relevant work experience.

  • Work experience and proficiency in programming and/or data mining languages such as SQL, Python or SAS.
  • Experience working with large data sets and relational databases.
  • Outstanding quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to use SQL to query and display large data sets while maximizing the performance of workbooks.
  • Proven experience writing SQL to query complex data structures and working with analytics.
  • Expertise with Python coding.
  • Expertise with financial statements and general ledger/subledger data is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Excellent competency with advanced Excel is required.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of application development following Agile methodology.
  • Experience working with different databases and understanding of data and financial reporting concepts.
  • Experience with implementing or modifying financial systems or applications, preferably related to accounting functions.
  • Strong data and financial analytical skills; Ability to quickly understand complex financial concepts; Mortgage industry experience preferred
