Job Summary

The Senior Benefits Analyst implements, administers, and communicates benefit policies, programs and procedures.  Oversees administration of benefit plans and monitors performance of vendors and third-party administrators.  Assists in the management of benefit plan renewals and the annual enrollment process. Provides analytical reporting support to the benefits function.  Assures benefit plans and programs are administered in compliance with plan documents and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in the design and implementation of employee benefit plans, programs and procedures.
  • Provides comprehensive analytical and other professional support for all benefit functions.
  • Generates and distributes a variety of reports and statistical summaries regarding benefit programs and associated costs, benefits budget and funding guidance and trend forecasting.
  • Investigates problem areas through the application of statistical analyses on enrollment and payroll data in concert with HRIS and payroll.
  • Partners with HRIS and vendors to troubleshoot issues and maintain configuration of UKG benefit administration system and WFM PTO accruals and leave management functions.
  • Responsible for managing vendor relationships and monitoring service levels.
  • Monitors benefit plan interfaces, exception reports and manage resolution of issues as they arise, coordinating with internal and third-party resources as needed.
  • Manages annual enrollment processes including communications, plan design, enrollment portal configuration, and timeline management.
  • Oversees annual 401(k) retirement plan audit and conducts monthly, quarterly, and annual ad hoc benefit plan audits, as needed.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for escalation of benefit issues.
  • Mediates problems between employees and benefit plans, working with providers and third-party administrators.
  • Provides training and support to employees and staff.
  • Provides support for special projects.
  • Oversees the administration of benefit programs. Develops and maintains administrative procedures.
  • Acts as a resource to management by providing advice and assistance regarding benefits, plans, policies and procedures, and related programs.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable benefit and tax legislation.
  • Ensures consistency in plan administration and regulatory compliance, including the preparation and distribution of SPDs, Plan Documents, SARs, SMMs and 5500s.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years progressively responsible experience in design, implementation, and administration of benefits programs. 
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize complex data, prepare reports and make recommendations to management based on results of analysis.
  • Demonstrated project management, communication, problem analysis, and consultation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge and aptitude of HRIS systems (UKG Pro and PlanSource a plus), including reporting and data analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills required. Strong Microsoft Office technical skills. 
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and able to work independently on multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of employer sponsored health and welfare benefit plan administration.
  • Demonstrated and strong functional knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
  • Prior experience participating in or supporting annual enrollment projects, including coordinating plan changes and system updates with vendors and HRIS systems, working with vendors to develop employee facing communications, training HR Business Partners and responding to employee questions.
  • Demonstrated and advanced knowledge of benefit plan account structures, HRIS system data, and eligibility files.
