Maintenance Technician

Apex Systems is looking to hire a Maintenance Technician for one of our top clients This will be a role with 100% travel to various sites across the contiguous United States. Candidates can sit anywhere in the US, but preferably close to a major airport. The company will book and pay for all travel (hotels, airfare, rental cars, etc.) upfront, but meals and any incidentals will be expensed and then reimbursed. There is a $60/day per diem offered. Pay rate is $25/hour. It will be starting as a 3-4 month contract, with potential to extend past that duration. They are looking for someone to start immediately. Must be able to pass a basic background check and drug screen.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
  • Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation
  • Lead and audit preventative maintenance procedures
  • Create and close out work orders with data including labor hours, equipment maintenance and parts used
  • Develop training plans
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) which includes belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and more
  • Maintain a positive working relationship across all the Operations facility
  • Track and store department inventory
  • Move up to 49lbs as well as stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation


Required Skills:

  • 3+ years of Electro-mechanical maintenance experience
  • 2 year Degree or equivalent training
  • Able to use hand tools
  • Strong communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with automated systems and controls
  • 3+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment
  • 3+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures
  • 3+ years of blueprint and electrical schematic reading
  • 3+ year of knowledge with electrical and electronic principles
  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Safety standards
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience with robotic or electromechanical operation and maintenance
  • Able to troubleshoot basic input and output functions
