Greenwich, United States Building Products Company Full time

As a Senior Analyst in the strategy group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction and success of our organization. Working with the chief strategy officer, you’ll be responsible for analyzing industry trends, competitive dynamics, and financial performance to provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership. Your work will influence key business decisions with respect to M&A strategy and deal execution, as well as formulation of initiatives aimed at driving business growth and enhancing our competitive position. This role will entail extensive exposure to the C-suite, investment bankers, acquisition targets, and the investment community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of market dynamics, industry trends, and competitive positioning to identify opportunities for the company. Translate findings into actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Financial analysis: Develop detailed financial models on public industry peers. Build out valuation infrastructure for public and private companies across the sector. Track and model macroeconomic trends.
  • Business Planning: Support the development of long-term strategic plans and annual operating plans by providing rigorous analysis and scenario modeling. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment of business objectives and strategies.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Monitor competitor activities, including product/service capability launches across the competitive landscape, pricing strategies, and operational positioning in the market within key business lines. Analyze competitor strengths and weaknesses to inform our own strategic decision-making and competitive response strategies.
  • Performance Tracking: Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and business performance (e.g., project-level ROI). Provide regular reporting and analysis to senior management to assess progress against strategic objectives.
  • M&A Support: Assist in the evaluation of potential acquisitions and other strategic partnerships. Conduct financial modeling and analysis, due diligence, and synergy assessments to evaluate the strategic fit and potential value creation opportunities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with other departments, including the various disciplines within finance and operations, to gather data, validate assumptions, and ensure alignment to strategic operational and financial goals across the organization.
  • Presentations and Communication: Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to communicate findings, progress updates and strategic business and investment-related recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders, including board of directors and investment community.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, with significant coursework in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in investment banking or private equity, investment research or buy-side public investment, strategy consulting, corporate development, or similar roles.
  • The ideal candidate would have both investment research or buy-side public investment experience and some combination of investment banking and private equity experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in advanced financial modeling, including equity valuation, DCF and M&A modeling, market research, competitive analysis, and the ability to track project-level ROI.
  • Ability to harness emerging AI tools to streamline analysis.
  • Interest in extending beyond finance and transactions to include evaluation of operations, especially with respect to implementing technology in service of operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including production of concise written product and live presentations for senior management, with the ability to distill complex concepts into clear and actionable recommendations for the leadership team.
  • Proven track record of driving strategic initiatives and delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with data visualization tools and business intelligence software is a plus.
