OSI Monarch GMS SCADA SME

A key Optimus power client is looking for a highly qualified and driven SCADA Engineer/IT Technologist with solid experience with OSI Monarch GMS in multiple ISOs.

The successful candidate will oversee information technology (IT) skills as well as the design, implementation, and upkeep of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience in supporting the OSI Monarch SCADA systems - this experience is a must
• Experienced in developing backup/recovery strategies of SCADA System/Historian configuration and data as appropriate
• Experienced in delivering monitoring and notifications in a SCADA environment
• Understanding of NERC CIP security principals; NERC CIP certification preferred
• Experience with supporting a Microsoft based server infrastructure; Microsoft SQL experience a plus
• Programming knowledge with C, C++, C# or Python
• Understanding of WAN and VPN concepts
• Available in late evening hours for deployments/updates
• Able to provide on rotation, after hours (24 x 7) on-call support

Responsibilities

• Responsible for initial implementation and support of a new, multi-site, high availability OSI Monarch Generation Management System in the ERCOT, NYISO, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO & WECC markets
• Supports and troubleshoots the operational SCADA environment as well as insuring optimized monitoring and system reliability reporting
• Working knowledge of OSISoft Pi historian and interfaces between Pi & Monarch
• Designs, installs, optimizes, supports, and troubleshoots all aspects of the overall system, insuring solid reliability
• Mentors and trains lower-level Engineers
• Ensure that all telemetry and controls are available and accurate
• Configure and maintain alarm management of SCADA system alarms for energy controllers, customers and SCADA staff
• Support OSI-Monarch's Power System Applications including Energy Control Algorithm (ECA) and Automatic Generation Control (AGC)
• Maintains Monarch custom DB configurations

• OSI Monarch Suite and interfaces
• OSISoft Pi Historian and interfaces
• C Programming
• MODBUS / DNP3 / ICCP / PI to PI
• Microsoft 2008 Server R2 & SQL Server 2008 R2
• Plant communications and connectivity (MODBUS/DNP/ICCP/Pi to Pi Connections)
