The ideal candidate for the Senior Accountant role will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, and customer billing. They will be organized and can approach each issue with a solution based analytical mindset.



Responsibilities

  • Ensure business transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Work closely with team members to assist with the month-end close
  • Assist with the annual audit process including the draft of the financial statements and related notes
  • Research and analyze expense variances for company management
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements



Qualifications/Skills

  • 3 or more years' of professional accounting experience (minimum)
  • 8 or more years of professional accounting experience (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
  • CPA certification or relevant advanced degree is preferred
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles and regulations
  • Experience managing and/or leading an accounting team (preferred but not required)

Location:

  • This role can be based out of any one of our three operations located in Boyne City Michigan, Angola Indiana or Sault Ste Marie Michigan. But the candidate selected for this role would need to spend the first 3-4 months training in the Sault Ste Marie MI facility, learning our processes and people, as well as building the necessary contacts and relationships with the core finance and accounting team which are critical for success in this role.
