We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underground Equipment Operator to join our dynamic team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional who thrives on challenges and is passionate about the construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various types of heavy equipment used in underground construction, such as horizontal directional drills, propelled plows, bore machines, and fiber optics installation equipment. This position requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in the field of underground utilities or construction.

Responsibilities:

As a Underground Equipment Operator, you will:

1. Operate horizontal directional drill, propelled plow, bore machine, and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
2. Install, repair, and maintain underground utilities, including fiber optics, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
3. Interpret blueprints, maps, and other diagrams to determine the location and direction of utilities.
4. Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to the supervisor.
5. Coordinate with the team to ensure efficient completion of projects, maintaining communication with the crew regarding any changes or issues.
6. Adhere to all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
7. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or project manager.

Qualifications:

To be considered for the Underground Equipment Operator position, you must possess the following:

1. A minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in the construction industry, specifically with horizontal directional drills, propelled plows, and bore machines.
2. Class A CDL or ability to obtain within a specified time frame.
3. Proven experience with fiber optics installation and a solid understanding of underground utilities.
4. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
5. Excellent physical condition and endurance to perform strenuous activities under varying and adverse weather conditions.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
7. High degree of precision and attention to detail in a potentially hazardous environment.
8. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work well in a team.
9. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
