About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to be an important part of our team. The Pre-Construction Project Manager will be responsible for driving and managing the external engineering design output, utility processes, site acquisition services, resident concerns related to construction, and jurisdictional authority permitting. You will oversee all aspects of project planning and preparation before the construction phase begins. Your role involves working closely with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure that projects are well-defined, budgeted, and scheduled for successful execution. This opportunity sits within Cityside Fiber’s Outside Plant. The Outside Plant Department team is responsible for the implementation of fiber networks. The objective of this position is to drive preconstruction activities to completion within project timelines. To be successful in this role you will have adaptability, resourcefulness, ability to influence, self-motivation, and team focus. You will operate in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment and excel in hitting the Company’s objectives. To be successful you will have superior communication and organizational skills.


Responsibilities

  • Understand Cityside Fiber’s core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do.
  • Engage and accelerate the utility and jurisdictional authority approval processes.
  • Driving and managing external engineering resources.
  • Drive and coordinate the identification, design, agreement, and permitting of POP locations.
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates resources to activities.
  • Review the project schedule with internal partners as necessary; revise the schedule as required.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and other external parties impacted by construction or engineering.
  • Maintain effective dialog with Construction Managers regarding the planning and scheduling of resources.
  • Coordinating, monitoring, and administrating the pre-construction activities, including, but not limited to negotiating sub-contractors, materials and equipment procurement, material storage, site development, and construction scheduling.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and designers to develop and finalize project designs.
  • Regularly review the quality of the work completed with the project team to ensure that it meets Cityside standards.
  • Execute the project according to the project plan.
  • Use forms, systems, and records to document project progress and ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
  • Monitor and provide regular updates on project progress, milestones, and key decisions.
  • Provide effective management of labor, materials, and equipment resources, controlling costs within budget guidelines.
  • Identify areas of risk and opportunity, ensuring projects meet or exceed budgeted financial objectives with early and consistent communication of risk to leadership.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures throughout the pre-construction phase.
  • Ensure that the project deliverables are delivered within schedule and budget at the required level of quality.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase; lead debrief on completed projects to identify lessons learned.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and personal initiative in decision making.
  • Create and distribute correspondence relevant to internal and external partners.
  • Communicate issues to management prior to reaching critical status.
  • Work in and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and integrity with fellow employees to ensure the overall success of Cityside Fiber.
  • Demonstrates a team focus, providing leadership, support and adherence to sound business practices.


Qualifications

  • High energy individual who is willing to be an integral part of a high growth service provider who puts people first, dares to be different and has fun disrupting an industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ of experience in a telecom or technology industry or related field.
  • Proven history of project planning, budget management, vendor management, and team building.
  • Strong knowledge of the fiber internet market and technology trends.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Sharp, analytical, and thoughtful with sound judgment.
  • Consistent effort, intense commitment, and willingness to go above and beyond when needed.
  • Experience communicating to and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Proven history of excellent customer service and ability to build relationships.
  • Excellent organizational skills- Ability to multi-task and be highly responsive to internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrated intense customer focus.
  • Demonstrated highest level of integrity, intellectual honesty and strong work ethic.
  • Understanding of telecommunication infrastructure and networking concepts.
  • Valid state driver’s license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.


Location

Our Headquarters and field offices are located in Irvine. May be required to travel to project/customer sites to fulfill job responsibilities.


Compensation

Starting at $110,000 Annually (actual starting rate may be higher based on candidate’s qualifications, skills and years of experience).
