Summary of Primary Functions: A Senior Accountant's main task is to keep financial records up to date and ensure accurate application of a company's monetary policies. On a day-to-day basis, a Senior Accountant also compiles financial reports, provides analysis and offers financial advice to senior members of the company including the Chief Financial Officer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Fully functional within all major areas of the company’s accounting processes to include general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and the processing of all transactions related to purchases and sales of major product lines.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Transaction accounting, financial reporting (internal and external),enterprise analysis, and internal audit functions.
  • Provide treasury and risk management support to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Daily interactions with Chief Financial Officer and online bank products required.
  • Primary point of contact for property and casualty loss filings.
  • Responsible for IFTA and Excise Tax filing as well as shared responsibility for the annual personal property tax filing.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with accounting software and databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Active participation in process improvement projects is paramount.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or another relevant field along with three to five years of experience.
  • Crystal Reports or Hyperion (beneficial but not required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, and Intermediate to Advanced Excel
  • Proven high level performance with major ERP software platform.
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to stand or walk up to seven hours at a time.
  • Constant and repetitive movement of fingers, hands, and wrists.
