Job Description
About Momentum Education:
Momentum Education is an educational non-profit focused on helping first-generation, low-income students get to and through post-secondary education (a four-year degree, a two-year degree, or a vocational certification). Momentum Education operates a High School Fellowship Program and a Post-Secondary Fellowship Program.
The High School Fellowship Program provides mentorship to help high school students explore different careers, prepare for standardized tests, and apply to and enroll in post-secondary education. For this program, we hire full-time High School Advisors who are on-campus at the high school and mentor the students. The High School Advisors will receive support and professional development from the High School Team Leader.
The Post-Secondary Fellowship Program provides mentorship to help post-secondary students succeed academically, learn about their career, and find a job upon graduation. For this program, we recruit our older college students to mentor younger post-secondary students and career professionals to mentor older post-secondary students. All the post-secondary students are also assigned to a Post-Secondary Advisor to provide additional support.
About the Position:
Momentum Education seeks someone with experience working in operations at a high school, post-secondary institution, or educational non-profit organization. The Operations Coordinator will help the Executive Director build a dynamic organization that archives scale, financial sustainability, and impact. The Operations Coordinator will help ensure marketing, graphics, data, volunteer engagement, student opportunities, and career exploration events are successful. The position reports to the Executive Director and is located in Houston, Texas.
Job Responsibilities:
The Operations Coordinator’s Role will include the following:
- Design all graphics for social media posts and annual newsletters
- Create captions for social media posts on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Plan and moderate weekly career exploration events
- Oversee data tracking and data processing in Salesforce
- Recruit, onboard, and manage new volunteers
- Research student opportunities (summer internships and scholarships)
- Partner with the Executive Director in tracking data towards Momentum Education’s Vision 2028 Strategic Plan
Skills and Experience Desired:
The successful candidate for the Operations Director will be an experienced professional with a minimum of three years of operations experience and has overseen programming and/or data. Specifically, a successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A strong commitment to the mission of Momentum Education
- A desire to work at Momentum Education for multiple years (ideally 3 or more)
- Experience building a positive organizational culture of learning and growth
- Ability to use Canva, Salesforce, Google Docs, Mailchimp, Slack, Trello, and Zoom
- Experience working in education - either K-12, post-secondary education, or educational non-profit organizations
- Willingness to work in a hybrid setting with at least 60% of time in-person
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must have a cell phone and working laptop
Compensation:
Salary will be set at $50,000 with the opportunity for annual raises based on performance. All full-time Momentum Education employees enjoy health, vision, and dental insurance along with paid vacation time.
