Plant Operations Manager


Kraft Tool Company is a manufacturer and distributor of quality concrete and construction hand tools for professional and homeowner use. Kraft Tool is principally located in Shawnee, Kansas. For over 42 years, Kraft Tool has been a trusted name in the hand tool industry.


Our organization has an opening for a plant manager in a midsize facility employing nearly 250 employees across one shift. Kraft Tool Company is growing, and orders are expected to increase in the coming year, so as the right dynamic leader, you will have the opportunity to bring the vision needed to expand the plant to 300 employees, while fulfilling all customer quality expectations. The nature of our intended expansion means this position is perfect for an experienced manager looking to move to a new challenge in an expanding facility. Your skills will be essential to set the policies to help our facility grow into a large regional operation.


The Plant Operations Manager is responsible for managing the plant by coordinating and planning the manufacturing of product to ensure customer orders and company products are processed and shipped in accordance with planned schedules, job specifications, established quality standards, and planned profit objectives. This position is also responsible for implementing change to continuously improve performance and increase workflow efficiencies.


Job Responsibilities

• Monitor plant activities to ensure an effective use of available resources to meet production schedules for customer orders and inventory requirements.

• Review production reports and resolve any issues to ensure quality standards. Create and implement strategies to improve performance and production based on the production report.

• Analyze and review manufacturing operation procedures to develop and implement improvement strategies.

• Implement companywide policies, goals, objectives, and procedures in conjunction with company management.

• Coordinate with Finance and Operations Manager to develop plant fiscal budgets.

• Planning, organizing, directing and running optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations

• Increasing production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards

• Responsibility for production output, product quality and on-time shipping

• Collaborate with Engineering to determine whether operations allow for a new product or product applications.

• Consult with HR when making employment decisions on hiring, promotion, transfers, training and development, disciplinary action, terminations, and pay adjustments; monitor performance by completing new hire and annual performance evaluations.

• Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required:

5 years of experience as a plant manager or supervisor

5 years of experience in non-managerial industrial positions

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a field related to either



Preferred:

Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, bachelors in business

5 years of experience in tool manufacturing production

Demonstrate key competencies, including conflict management, business negotiation, organization and decision making. Strong leadership skills combined with the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with people, projects and issues. Ability to listen and communicate effectively. Ability to lead people. Ability to actively engage by means of discovery, process, and/or application of new information.
