Project Accountant

Job Summary:
Our client in the construction and real estate management industry is looking for a detail-oriented and organized Project Accountant. This individual will work closely with program directors and project teams to ensure the accuracy of invoicing, expense tracking, and project reporting. The role involves handling financial tasks related to multiple clients and their associated projects, using Bill.com and Business Central for streamlined accounting processes.

Key Project Accountant Responsibilities:

  1. Vendor Invoice & Employee Expense Processing (30%)

    • Manage incoming vendor invoices and employee expenses, primarily through corporate cards.
    • Ensure accurate project coding for expenses in Bill.com.
    • Assist with migrating expense processing to Business Central.

  2. Project Billing & Invoicing (50%)

    • Collaborate with program directors to ensure accurate invoicing for project expenses.
    • Create and upload invoices for client approval, ensuring timely submissions.
    • Communicate with clients on invoicing questions and follow-ups as needed.

  3. Account Reconciliations (20%)

    • Perform monthly reconciliations for AR accounts.
    • Ensure clean and organized financial records, especially during month-end close.
    • Assist in cleaning up standard accounting discrepancies.

Minimum Project Accountant Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of project accounting experience, preferably within construction or real estate management.
  • Proficiency with Bill.com and experience in AP/AR.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and timelines.
  • Ability to collaborate with various departments and program directors on invoicing and expense reporting.

Preferred Project Accountant Skills:

  • Experience with Business Central or Nav is a HUGE plus.
  • Familiarity with month-end close processes.
  • Proficient in Excel
