Costing & Product Development Coordinator

What is the Role?  


We are looking for an experienced costing and product development manager with a demonstrated history of working in the garment industry. Ideal candidates are skilled in PMU/Margin Analysis, Product Development, Sourcing, and Costing Structure Implementation.  

 

Detailed responsibilities include:  

 

  • Negotiate and confirm costing for multiple accounts. 
  • Develop time and action calendar for all programs. 
  • Coordinate and lead new order meetings with design, sales, technical design, and our China office. 
  • Partner with production managers in our China office to ensure orders are executed properly. 
  • Act as a filter and support while negotiating and researching product costing (supplier relations and meetings). 
  • Effectively use costing analysis to improve costing process implementation.  
  • Manage and analyze costing breakdowns; usage, unit costs, labor and overhead, profit analysis. 
  • Update and maintain departmental costing reports and PLM system. 
  • Improve department communication and emphasize margin building with more efficient design and materialization. 
  • Pro-actively manage initial seasonal product briefing, material sourcing and trend analysis, and thorough line plan maintenance for future seasons. 
  • Elevate and communicate high risk potential order problems and issues as appropriate. 
  • Other PD job-related duties as needed.  
  • You will report to Tristen Weida, Sr Costing Manager. 


What is required?  


  • 3-5 years of experience in apparel production management. 
  • Experience managing speed to market/fast track orders from inception is a plus. 
  • Strong costing and negotiation skills. 
  • Knowledge/understanding of fabrics and different garment wash processes that help problem solve production issues will be plus. 
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office programs. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proactive problem solving skills. 
  • Familiar with basic retail math needed to determine costs, margins and turn. 
  • Detail oriented with strong follow through - able to organize and prioritize multiple projects 
  • Self-starter, proactive, ability to prioritize and shift focus with ease and flexibility - you are excited to dive in, build quickly and drive output. 
  • Not afraid to jump in where needed - no task is too big or too small for you, and you are willing to help your team before you are asked. 
  • Desire to be part of a tight-knit team and comfortable working with ambiguity. 
  • Must be able to work in person at our Culver City office 5 days per week.
