Job Description:

We're seeking a skilled Inventory Analyst to join our client's team and revolutionize the world of pre-owned book retailing. As a leading retailer in this domain, our client handle millions of SKUs annually, operating across multiple markets and locations. Effective data analysis is the cornerstone of their operations, enabling them to thrive at scale. In this role, you'll take charge of the weekly trading activities, producing insightful reports, conducting trend analysis, and delving into outlier data to uncover opportunities and obstacles. You'll manage and leverage core trading and inventory datasets to drive informed decision-making. We're looking for someone with strong SQL proficiency, expertise in large dataset analysis, business acumen, and the ability to create dashboards using tools like Tableau. Prior experience with inventory and operational datasets is advantageous.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver accurate weekly trading reports with in-depth analysis of key performance indicators.
  • Provide insights to leadership and other teams regarding the impact of strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct trend analysis to detect patterns and emerging opportunities or challenges in trading performance.
  • Utilize SQL to develop internal and customer-facing datasets, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Define and implement standardized metrics, reports, and dashboards in collaboration with the development team.
  • Promote data literacy by creating decision-making tools and empowering self-serve data access.
  • Utilize data cubes to identify actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in trading analytics and data visualization.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Economics, Statistics).
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably with operational/inventory data.
  • Proficient in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Experience building and maintaining data cubes using SQL.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large datasets to extract meaningful insights.
  • Commercial acumen and the capability to translate business needs into data-driven recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, particularly in conveying complex findings to non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have:

  • Expertise in analyzing pricing datasets.
  • Familiarity with R or Python.
