Fabrication Technical Manager

Headquartered in Carrollton, Texas we manufacture quality products used in America’s critical infrastructure industries including but not limited to class 8 trucks, electric vehicles, truck trailers, utility scale solar power, electrical transmission, and numerous commercial construction products.
About the Role: The Fabrication Technical Manager will report to the Vice President of Downstream Operations and collaborate closely with the Director of Fabrication & CNC. The main role of the Fabrication Technical Manager is to find cost-effective fabrication solutions for Western value-added business by partnering with customers, sales teams, tooling vendors, and fabrication equipment suppliers.
Your Responsibilities
- Propel the Fabrication & CNC Department to new heights by implementing new methodologies and embracing cutting-edge technologies like automation, industrialization, and mechanization, to name a few.
- Contribute to enhancing the efficiency of the Fabrication & CNC Department by providing recommendations based on identifying potential areas for improvement.
- Maintaining and updating cost and capacity models for the Fabrication & CNC Department.
- Ensure that all metrics, key performance indicators, and data related to the department, processes, and machines (e.g., throughput, avoided cost, return on assets, among others) are properly tracked to ensure effectiveness and efficiency goals are met.
- Prepare vendor quotes and work in close partnership with vendors to guarantee the fulfillment of all expectations and needs.
- Collaborate closely with the sales team and customers to effectively discover, clarify, and formulate fabrication price estimates.
- Adhere to all safety and quality guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment including but not limited to adhering to all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements, immediate incident reporting, and adherence to both Safety Cardinal Rules and Quality Cardinal Rules, among others.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the team.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or a significant amount of experience (10+ years) working with fabrication and CNC tooling desired.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) required.
- Strong communication, written, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed above.
- Promote, support, and enforce ISO 9001 standards as they apply to the facility.
Work Environment: Responsibilities are carried out in both indoor settings and in the plant, an unregulated environment that experiences extreme temperatures and high levels of noise, including but not limited to other uncontrollable factors.
