Biorepository Support Associate I

Job Summary:

Work as part of a small team to gather and organize DNA/RNA samples requested for downstream

genomic sequencing research in support of the production goals of the Genomics Platform in the high

throughput Samples Laboratory. Tracks data for quality control and registers results in computer

databases. Adjusts to new processes and technologies as required and contributes to the development of

new processes and technologies. Adheres to quality standards through evaluation and troubleshooting at

critical process points following Broad Quality Management System requirements; operates, maintains,

and troubleshoots various analytical and process related instruments; analyzes and documents data;

reviews and revises SOPs; generates and characterizes process related samples; prepares all necessary

reagents; performs quality control procedures; participates in workflow operations related to research

development projects; and provides assistance in key tasks related to optimizing research processes and

increasing the efficiency of Genome Sequencing Platform. Serves as an information resource for team

members and may give general guidance and training to other Platform staff. Responsibilities for this

position include calibration and validation of freezers, refrigerators, LN2 tanks and incubators. Perform

testing to support the quality management system and report, troubleshoot and make recommendations

about quality issues relating to calibration. Assist in data entry and general record keeping.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

● Collaborates with Supervisor to investigate alternative technical solutions to problems.

● Coordinate with other team members to ensure calibration and validation of test units is done in a

timely manner.

● Help support Broad quality management.

● Coordinates with other teams and PdA’s to fill production pull boxes based on priorities and

production capacities.

● Follows established protocols and procedures to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot

equipment.

● Gathers all experimental team data and reports such data to Supervisors on a regular and timely

basis.

● Maintain digital records of calibration and validation activities.

● Maintains database of sample receipts and shipment schedules.

● Operates robotics to help with sample re-arraying.

● Other related tasks as required.

● Perform routine calibration, preventive maintenance of freezers, refrigerators and LN2 tanks.

● Perform routine pre and post validation verification of freezers, refrigerators and LN2 tanks.

● Performs external platings

● Provide updates to supervisor and managers.

● Pull and Prepare the Biological samples requests for Genomics Platform teams.

● Records results in spreadsheets and computer databases; monitors established quality control

metrics.

● Review calibration reports.

● Review validation reports.

● Ships Biological samples

● Troubleshoot and diagnose problems related to calibration and validation failures.

● Write deviation reports
