HPC Linux Engineer


Join a leading hedge fund at the forefront of high-performance computing and technology. You will play a pivotal role in setting up and maintaining servers, ensuring they operate seamlessly for trading activities. Your expertise will be instrumental in monitoring performance, swiftly resolving technical issues, and automating tasks to enhance operational efficiency. Bridging the gap between hardware and software, you'll explore innovative technologies to continually optimize trading systems.


Responsibilities


  • Setting up and maintaining servers: You'll be involved in setting up new computers and ensuring they're configured properly for trading activities.
  • Monitoring performance: You'll keep an eye on how well these computers are performing, making sure they're not getting overloaded and are running at their best.
  • Fixing technical problems: When something goes wrong with one of these computers, you'll be the one to figure out what's gone awry and fix it quickly to minimize any disruptions.
  • Automating tasks: You'll work on creating tools and programs that can handle repetitive tasks automatically, making the whole process more efficient.
  • Bridging hardware and software: You'll understand how the physical components of the computers (like the actual hardware) interact with the software they run (like the Linux operating system).
  • Exploring new technologies: You'll be encouraged to stay updated with the latest advancements in technology and implement them if they can improve the company's trading systems.


Requirements


  • Demonstrated proficiency with extensive Linux/Unix server systems experience.
  • In-depth comprehension of Linux operating system internals, enabling effective troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Proficient in Python programming, leveraging coding skills to automate tasks and streamline operational workflows.
  • Proven track record of thriving in high-performance environments, ensuring optimal system performance under demanding conditions.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure management tools such as Ansible, facilitating efficient configuration and maintenance of system resources.
