Our Challenge:

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the business to work on complex technical requirements. You will be responsible for managing multiple engagements, prioritize and resolve complex problems and escalate as necessary, in a fast-paced environment.


The Role

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement data virtualization solutions to provide unified access to disparate data sources and systems, enabling efficient data integration and consumption.
  2. Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to enable data retrieval, transformation, and aggregation in support of analytics and reporting requirements.
  3. Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement and maintain data infrastructure, including data storage, processing, and orchestration using cloud-based platforms and infrastructure as code (IaC) practices.
  4. Build and optimize data pipelines using Python, leveraging libraries and frameworks for data manipulation, transformation, and ETL processes.
  5. Implement and optimize data workflows using Databricks, including data ingestion, processing, and analytics on distributed computing clusters.
  6. Perform data modeling, schema design, and performance tuning to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of large-scale datasets.
  7. Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver scalable, performant data solutions.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data security, compliance, and governance best practices are implemented across data infrastructure and pipelines.
  9. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers and data analysts.


Requirements:

You are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a strong emphasis on data virtualization, SQL programming, DevOps practices, Python, and Databricks.
  • Proficiency in data virtualization platforms such as Denodo, Informatica, or Cisco Data Virtualization for unified data access and integration.
  • Advanced SQL programming skills for data retrieval, transformation, and optimization in relational databases and data warehouses.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure automation tools for DevOps practices and data infrastructure management.
  • Strong programming skills in Python for data manipulation, ETL processes, and automation of data workflows.
  • Proficiency in Databricks for distributed data processing, analytics, and machine learning on big data.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.


It would be great if you also had:

  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for containerized data workloads.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data quality management, and metadata management best practices.
  • Experience with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing and analytics.
  • Understanding of data streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka for real-time data ingestion and processing.
