Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in maintaining and troubleshooting complex banking enterprise applications, ensuring optimal performance and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in application support, database management, and cloud computing, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Maintenance and Support: Troubleshoot and support complex banking applications, including upgrades, vulnerability management, and custom-built solutions.
  • Database Management: Perform advanced database maintenance tasks, including rewriting complex queries and managing SQL Server databases.
  • Network Infrastructure Support: Understand and support network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and components (routers, switches, firewalls), ensuring robust security protocols.
  • System Monitoring: Utilize tools like SolarWinds for proactive system health monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Virtualization and Containerization: Manage virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Cloud Support: Support and manage applications in cloud environments, particularly MS Azure DevOps.
  • Incident and Change Management: Handle incident management, including ticket triaging, prioritization, resolution, and escalation in line with defined SLAs. Execute change management processes, including impact assessment, planning, and implementation.
  • System Integration Testing and Production Post-Implementation Testing: Conduct system integration and UAT, and ensure server preparedness with light development tasks.
  • Customer-Facing Support: Provide excellent customer service to business partners, ensuring clear communication and efficient problem resolution.

Technical Skills:

  • Some experience with any of the following: ASP.Net, Java, C#, JavaScript, Python, SQL, Visual Studio, and MS Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, SSIS ETL functionality, and the ability to manage ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and diagnostic tools like SolarWinds.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and building positive working relationships.
  • Active listening skills and a customer-centric approach to problem-solving and service delivery.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Advanced analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, including critical thinking and methodical troubleshooting.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks based on business impact and urgency.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies in all application support activities.

Documentation Skills:

  • Strong documentation skills for creating comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles.
  • Commitment to maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and enhance support efficiency.

Highly Desirable Skills:

  • Over 5 years of experience in an RDBMS environment, supporting SQL Server and SSIS functionality.
  • Experience with ETL processes and troubleshooting data load issues.
  • Project management skills for coordinating tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring successful project completion.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Understanding of networking concepts for troubleshooting connectivity issues and ensuring application performance.
