Information Security Engineer
Boston, MA (hybrid, 3 days onsite)
6+Month Contract


This hybrid role requires initial in-office training in the Northeast (several weeks minimum), with subsequent flexibility to work remotely. Typically, the schedule involves three days onsite and two days offsite, based on the manager's discretion. Normal office hours are 8am-5pm, with occasional off-hours required.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, design, and deploy security solutions to meet client needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine requirements and implement security solutions.
  • Recommend strategies to prevent security exposures and intrusions.
  • Manage access control for non-Information Security projects.
  • Analyze and respond to cyber incidents.
  • Evaluate and implement firewall changes.
  • Monitor security products and audit logs.
  • Provide ongoing support and advice to IT staff and end users on security issues.
  • Ensure adherence to security policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge in at least one domain of information security (e.g., access control systems, firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention).
  • Knowledge of operating system administration, network security, and application security.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Coding skills in C, Java, PERL, Python, or similar language strongly preferred.
  • Experience with firewalls and Intrusion Detection/Prevention systems preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to influence individuals at multiple levels within a major university.
