Billing Specialist

Job Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Billing Specialist for a contract position in Cumberland, RI
The opportunity will be one year with a strong chance for a long-term extension.


Position Summary: Responsible for providing expertise, analysis, and solutions to complex supplier coordination (ESG), billing, regulatory processes, and technical problems with a focus on improving operational effectiveness and excellence
The Billing Specialist has knowledge and understanding of supplier activities, billing processes and the systems to support the tasks
Proactive monitoring is performed to identify potential concerns
This position is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for projects that impact billing and ESG billing and enhances other's understanding of business processes and systems.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Provide analysis and solutions to complex billing.
  • Enhance other's understanding of “end-to-end” meter to cash processes.
  • Review and create detailed documentation of business processes and the use of associated systems.
  • Monitor and analyze various system control reports, to determine root cause and resolution.
  • Implement new controls.
  • Develop training and advise others.
  • Perform account data repairs to allow system users to proceed with customer billing.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal customers and ESG.
  • Investigate and respond to inquiries from internal and external customers, i.e
    Call Center, Business Accounts, and/or Suppliers.
  • Identify opportunities to use information technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes.
  • Define requirements, prepare process flows, test, and implement billing processes and system improvement changes due to Regulatory orders or business process improvements to streamline processes and reduce billing costs.
  • Assist with business case preparation.
  • Prepare clear, concise, comprehensive communications with minimal supervision.
  • Facilitate meetings and deliver presentations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments in PPL Electric Utilities as well as regulatory agencies.
  • Physical presence in the office/on-site to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
  • May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role
    This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service
    This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree OR minimum of 3 years of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the energy industry is preferred with a focus on the appropriate one of the following: billing, ESG-EDI transmissions, credit and collections, business operations and planning, customer service, regulatory and or finance.
  • Knowledge of customer service systems
  • Knowledge of billing, suppliers, and metering
  • Knowledge of regulatory rules
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:
  • MBA
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
  • Experience in a regulated industry or the construction industry is highly preferred.
