This role is located in either our Chesterfield, Missouri or San Francisco, California Office.


What You'll Do

At Longview Infrastructure, efficient design is at the core of our success in

developing and executing electric transmission projects across North America. Longview is seeking a Manager/Director - Transmission Engineering to lead the design and engineering of transmission facilities


In this role, you will collaborate with Longview’s Development team to design, estimate, and develop transmission facilities while maintaining Longview’s engineering standards. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment where technical expertise meets business acumen.

A successful candidate will:

  • Directly lead the technical design of projects
  • Lead, design, and manage transmission and substation projects, including but not limited to, optimizing structures, conductors, pole spotting, and foundation designs
  • Review and approve consultant and contractor design packages, including but not limited to, structure families, design criteria, substation general arrangements, equipment selection, and material/construction specifications
  • Oversee project engineering teams, including the selection and oversight of engineering consultants, equipment vendors, and construction contractors.
  • Coordinate teams of contractors, internal expects, and suppliers to deliver a high-quality project
  • Maintain full accountability for overall project design
  • Establish and maintain engineering design standards
  • Act as Longview’s main point of contact for suppliers and contractors
  • Innovate and optimize cutting edge designs
  • Identify, evaluate, and selectively implement new technologies
  • Introduce and implement new tools, technologies and methodologies
  • Monitor industry trends to ensure Longview remains at the forefront of transmission engineering


Who You Are

  • Highly experienced in design and engineering of high voltage transmission facilities
  • Strong understanding of transmission structure design (loading trees, manufacturing and construction methods, cost optimization, and industry standard software platforms)
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering
  • Critical thinker – analytical and solution-focused
  • Independent – organizes own workstream based on broad objectives
  • Team player – looking to help the team and learn along the way
