Job Title: GIS Technician

Location: Columbus, OH

Duration: 6 Months (with possible extension)

Payrate: $35/hr. to $38/hr.

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented GIS Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our GIS operations, including data investigation, analysis, and routine mapping activities. This role is ideal for someone with a GIS/Geomatics degree or diploma and 0 to 4 years of experience in the field.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate data, database, and application issues from a business perspective and provide preliminary recommendations.
  • Assist with ad-hoc GIS requests, including data extraction and analysis.
  • Assist with documentation tasks, prepare reports and presentations, and help organize meetings.
  • Provide support to GIS Project Managers and Content Management Lead.
  • Escalate issues outside the scope of assignment as necessary.
  • Research information sources and make initial interpretations.
  • Take initiative to solve problems using consistent and accepted methods.
  • Make routine decisions independently within established guidelines.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction through timely and quality services.
  • Coordinate project mapping deliverables in support of Regulatory and Engineering activities.
  • Perform routine mapping GIS activities, including pipeline, facilities, imagery, structures, and base maps.
  • Collaborate with other GIS professionals to manage and improve GIS data and systems.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in GIS/Geomatics.
  • 0 to 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare reports and presentations.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with GIS software and tools.
  • Basic understanding of regulatory and engineering processes related to GIS.
