Must Haves:

• Experience with utility systems – boilers, chillers, air compressors, HVACR systems, Water for injection (WFI), glycol, steam, steam traps, compressed air, Air handling units (AHU), etc.

• Experience performing general routine maintenance – filter changes, bulb replacement, blowdowns, system drain/flush etc.

• Experience working with a work order management system such as SAP, Blue Mountain, Maximo etc.

• Ability to follow processes and document accordingly

• Hardworking and reliable

Plusses:

• Experience with critical alarm monitoring

• Building Automation Systems (BAS) experience such as Siemens, Honeywell, Delta V

• Experience with work order management systems like SAP, Maximo, Blue Mountain

• Ability to read P&ID’s, electrical drawings, blueprints etc.


Day to Day:

One of our largest pharmaceutical clients in the Durham area is looking for a Utility Technicians to join their team. Primary responsibilities will be to help assist with the utility monitoring of temporary chillers that will be installed at the site to support a new drug build out.

The successful candidate must understand and know how to troubleshoot, repair and calibrate reverse osmosis systems, clean steam generators, vapor compression still and water for injection systems. The successful candidate will actively support, participate and embrace an empowered team culture including significant interaction with Automation, Quality and other support groups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Ability to work with and troubleshoot and calibrate complex clean utility systems to include reverse osmosis skids, clean steam generators, vapor compression stills and water for injection systems

- Order and maintain spare parts for these systems

- Review and update SOPs, job aids and task lists for improvements

- Interface with other departments, contractors and disciplines on scheduling repairs and maintenance of clean utility systems and production equipment

- Installation, testing, adjustment, maintenance, repair, calibration and troubleshooting of complex systems

- Follow current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs) and good documentation practices (cGDPs).

- Follow instructions for completion of job tasks

- Responsible for written documentation of activities

- Develops standard operating procedures (SOPs), engineering change request (ECRs), preventative maintenance (PM) plans/calibration procedures, task lists, etc.as required.

- Work within a team to perform maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

- Complete preventative maintenance and calibration work orders, resolve deviations and evaluate equipment performance for efficient operation of clean utility systems

- Efficient and safe maintenance and repair of equipment using Hazardous Energy Control Procedures

- Compliance with current good manufacturing procedures(cGMP), safety and environmental requirements/regulations/guidelines

- Effective communication both written and oral

- Required to wear personal protective equipment including safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, hard hats, safety harnesses etc.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and advance several tasks in parallel

- Proficient in the use of general hand and power tools, instruments and testing apparatus commonly used in maintenance and instrumentation.

- Ability to read P&ID's, electrical drawings, blueprints, etc
