Job Summary/Description:

Responsible for the strategic leadership and project management of projects including generating facilities, distribution lines, substations through the effective coordination of resources, both internal and external, to support the timely and efficient completion of power distribution system additions and modifications. Includes providing strategic leadership and direction on assigned projects and developing, maintaining and implementing project management process, procedures and documentation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1.      Provide strategic leadership and direction on assigned projects, identify risk components and recommend risk mitigation strategies.

2.      Manage assigned contracts with a focus of meeting project objectives and maintain inclusive communication.

3.      Develop, maintain and implement project management processes, procedures and documentation for budget and execution of utility power distribution projects in support of the Utility Division Project Management Division.

4.      Assemble and lead project teams assigned to support projects and represent Utility Division at project meetings.

5.      Provide documented scope, schedule, deliverables, resource needs and budget estimates for each project assigned.

6.      Support the development of project contracts or agreements and assure compliance to the terms and conditions through the construction duration

7.      Provide periodic progress reports to management including project metrics, milestones, scope changes, budget analysis, schedule updates.

8.      Utilize project metrics and team input to analyze project performance and provide actions to support successful completion of the project.

9.      Initiate and monitor appropriate cost accounting, invoicing, cash flow forecasting, and close-out of capital projects.

10.  Responsible for communicating with all project stakeholders and participants providing timely responses to information and documentation needs.

11.  Provide Project Management data for use in preparing detailed project estimates, variance reporting and budgets.


Education and Training

·        Degree in engineering, project management, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Licensed Journeyman Electrician or Journeyman Lineman a Plus


Skills, Abilities, Requirements:

·        Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.

·        Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external.

·        Extensive experience and knowledge of project management techniques as applied to electric Construction distribution projects.

·        General knowledge of electrical distribution system planning, environmental compliance, permitting, engineering, operations, contracting and construction disciplines as they apply to power distribution projects.

·        Knowledge of distribution facilities, functions, and typical applications.

·        Knowledge of project management software applications.

·        Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, advanced proficiency in MS Excel preferred.


Experience:

·        Three (3) years of experience as project engineer or project manager on increasingly complex projects, preferably for electric distribution projects.

·        Experience and knowledge of project management techniques as applied to electric generation and distribution projects.

·        Willingness to travel as required. (Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.)
