Your mission is to design, develop, and implement efficient production systems that will improve profitability and safety. You will use your years of experience with production processes, process flow, capacity planning, inventory management, and Lean Manufacturing principles to increase efficiency. Your excellent problem-solving skills will help you troubleshoot issues within the facility, and your strong written and verbal communication skills will help you build trusting relationships with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Shipping/Receiving, and elsewhere in the company.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Design, develop, and implement efficient production systems that optimize the use of resources and minimize waste.
  • Work closely with product engineering and production teams to identify areas of improvement and develop solutions to enhance productivity, quality, and cost.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on production issues to identify the underlying cause of problems and develop solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (S&OPs) for all production processes and conduct time studies to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the production process with the method engineer.
  • Work with human resources to develop and implement training programs for production staff to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Create detailed drawings of production systems and equipment to aid in troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Develops and maintain documentation for all production processes, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, and training materials.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Optimize work sequencing and workflow through machines/work centers.
  • Develop and issue Manufacturing Engineering policies and procedures.
  • Provide budgeting information and project updates/status to management.
  • Design of layouts and line flow.
  • Coordinate implementation of approved facility changes with Manufacturing.
  • Conduct workflow, capacity, and throughput analyses.
  • Conduct cost analysis as required.
  • Champion and apply Lean Tools (5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis); monitor effectiveness.
  • Participate and/or Facilitate Kaizen events and train others on how to facilitate them.
  • Measure Lean implementation results.
  • Execute and promote problem-solving at all levels of the organization.
  • Office computer program literacy, and experience using calipers, micrometers, and measuring equipment are required to perform the duties of this position.


A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, electrical, avionics, or manufacturing engineering and a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience is preferred.
