Position: Data Analyst II

Job Type: Contract to Hire (will eventually convert to an FTE)

Location: St. Louis, MO (Hybrid)

Job Description:

Performs data collection, analysis, validation and reporting. Designs, tests, and documents processes, SQL queries, and stored procedures. Extracts and analyzes data from various sources, including databases, manual files, and external websites. Responds to data inquiries from various groups within an organization. Creates and publishes regularly scheduled and ad hoc reports. Documents reporting requirements and processes and validates data components as required. Requires experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and/or statistical software. Strong analytical and organizational skills also essential. 2 - 5 years of experience.

Position is a data analyst working with financial data. Needs to be very detail oriented. Candidate needs to have very strong excel skills. Role requires working with spreadsheets using pivot tables, graphs, vlookups, formulas, and more. We will be using Tableau so having that experience is a plus but not required. Needs great presentation skills.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Can you give me an example or two of projects this person will be involved with/ responsible for?

- Lots of managing budgets, forecasting and reconciliation for budgets

- Creating graphs and providing reports that show trending budget analysis – be able to look at the budget and forecast out for the rest of the year to show if we’re going to go over budget or if we’re looking good.

- Need to have that curiosity to learn the business behind the data – some people just

- This person is also responsible for making sure that all timesheets are entered by contractors on Friday & approved by the managers on Monday.

- Wants to start taking that raw data of which managers do/ don’t approve time or which contractors do/ don’t have their time in by EOD of Friday so that they can send out a monthly graph to the whole team to recognize those who get them done (and those who don’t)

- Eventually this person will put together and present presentations to leadership.

MUST HAVE skillsets:

  • Must have experience managing, forecasting, reconciling & analyzing budgets using Excel – including providing trending analysis.
  • Must be an expert in Excel – pivot tables, vlookups, formulas (if statements, etc.), Index & Match, Macros, creating graphs.
  • Must have the ability/ desire to eventually present the budget analysis to leadership (good communication/ presentation skills)

Nice to Have Skillsets:

  • Any experience with Tableau for reporting (they are moving to tableau)
