Role Description

Kilombo Academic and Cultural Institute is seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Teacher to join our dynamic educational community. Our vision is rooted in the holistic culturally relevant educational process, emphasizing physical, spiritual, intellectual, relational, and communal development. If you are committed to closing the opportunity gap and possess a deep commitment to differentiated instruction, hands-on math, and project-based social studies and science, we invite you to apply for this position. This is a full-time on-site role in Decatur, GA. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans and curricula, organizing field trips, maintaining academic records, and communicating with parents and guardians. The Lead Teacher will also participate in staff meetings and collaborate with our team and school community with fundraising and community events. We are specifically looking for Pre-k through second-grade teachers. These will be multi-grade level classes (pre-k and k, first and second).


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a K-12 academic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead.
  • Experience in curriculum development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with Culturally Responsive Teaching.
  • Knowledge of educational technology and its applications.
  • A passion for closing the opportunity gap for marginalized communities.
