Machine Learning Engineer (A.I. Data Scientist)

UNSPACE is Engineering the Unexpected. We are a high-tech engineering firm with a laboratory in central Houston, TX. We are currently seeking a Machine Learning Engineer/A.I. Data Scientist to contribute to the development of payloads for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) projects. 

 

Responsibilities 

AI Software Development: 

  • Model, build, and test AI software for large-scale machine vision data processing 
  • Utilize Python, JavaScript, and C++ to enhance the speed and capabilities of AI systems. 

Algorithmic Analysis: 

  • Analyze statistics, image data, and algorithms to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of AI projections. 
  • Provide insights into strategic recommendations aligning with company goals using AI analysis. 

Collaborative AI Development: 

  • Work closely with our team and partners to ensure seamless AI development and integration onto UAS systems.  
  • Collaborate on cross-functional projects, leveraging expertise to enhance AI capabilities. 

Progress Reporting: 

  • Collect, organize, and present progress updates to team leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Ensure clear communication of AI development milestones and achievements. 

Continuous Learning and Innovation: 

  • Stay current on AI knowledge, trends, and regulations to contribute to ongoing innovation within the field. 
  • Actively participate in research and development activities to enhance Unspace's AI capabilities. 

 

Skills 

AI Software Development: 

  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and C++ for AI software modeling and development. 

 

Algorithmic Expertise: 

  • Strong analytical skills to assess statistics, data, and algorithms for projection accuracy. 

 

Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Effective teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with machine-learning and data engineering teams. 

 

Ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

Adaptability and Learning: Adaptable mindset with a willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies to stay at the forefront of AI advancements. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline. 
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in AI software development and testing. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Preferred experience with non-static machine vision for UAV integration  
  • Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, and C++ for AI development. 
  • Experience working with large datasets and optimizing AI algorithms. 
  • Knowledge of machine-learning concepts and methodologies. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking to overcome technical challenges.

Additional Information 

  • This is a full-time position  
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this role. 
  • This is a hybrid position with a 70-30 split between remote and office work. Preferred candidates must live within driving distance of the Houston office. 
  • The salary range for this position is $100k - $140k depending on qualifications.
