Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Engineer at EMCO Industries in Claremore, OK. We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative product development team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering principles, with a passion for designing and prototyping innovative products that meet customer needs and exceed market expectations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive the development of cutting-edge products from concept to commercialization.


Responsibilities:

Conceptualization and Design:

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of mechanical components and systems for new product initiatives.
  • Utilize CAD software and prototyping tools to create detailed design specifications, 3D models, and prototypes.
  • Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts, performance criteria, and manufacturability.

Manufacturability and Cost Optimization:

  • Evaluate design concepts for manufacturability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to optimize production processes, select materials, and minimize manufacturing costs.
  • Identify opportunities for standardization and design reuse to streamline development timelines and reduce time-to-market.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, marketing, and quality assurance, to define product requirements, specifications, and timelines.
  • Communicate design concepts, technical considerations, and project milestones effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and problem-solving activities to foster innovation and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, including layout changes, workflow redesign, and automation integration.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Implement quality assurance processes, statistical process control (SPC) techniques, and error-proofing methods to ensure product quality and consistency.
  • Develop and maintain quality standards, inspection procedures, and performance metrics to monitor process performance and identify deviations from target specifications.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to address quality issues and prevent recurrence across manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and maintain standards for product quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documentation, engineering drawings, and test reports, in accordance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.


 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in mechanical design, product development, and prototyping, in a product-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools for mechanical analysis and validation.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and drive projects to completion.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across functional teams and influence decision-making.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and technologies, including machining, fabrication, assembly, and automation.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement techniques.
