Dreicor is an industrial construction company that services clients throughout the US. We are a full-service contractor that self-performs structural steel fabrication and erection, mechanical piping and sheet metal fabrication and installation, refractory installation, electrical installation, and millwright and equipment installation services.


Job Summary:


Under the direct supervision of the Safety Director, the Safety Manager assumes a central role in guiding and overseeing the Company's safety initiatives, loss control programs, and the cultivation of a top-tier safety and risk management ethos. They lead the implementation of the Dreicor Site Safety Plan, ensuring its compliance with current OSHA regulations, state requirements, client specifications, and industry best practices.


Additionally, the Safety Manager interfaces extensively with Company management, personnel at various levels, subcontractors, and clients, facilitating communication, conducting training, inspections, and investigations as needed. Integral to their role is the meticulous maintenance of safety performance records in alignment with the Behavioral Based Safety Program, pivotal to Dreicor's safety culture.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Develops and articulates the Company’s safety vision, objectives, strategies, policies, and procedures to foster a best-in-class safety culture.
  • Provides proactive leadership by anticipating problems, offering solutions, and sharing knowledge through training across all levels of management, field staff and project teams.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, subcontractors, and inspectors to ensure alignment with safety standards and promotes a culture of learning and empowerment.
  • Utilizes logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions, monitoring outcomes for continuous improvement.
  • Ensures safety & health training meet the needs of internal and external (client & regulating entities) requirements, so staff has the safety training to safely perform tasks and jobs.
  • Leads incident investigations and manages hazard assessment activities, including the development of Job Hazard Assessments and conducting and/or supervising safety inspections.
  • Manages the safety staff, fostering a high-performance team through hiring, coaching, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution.

Other Functions:


  • Manages safety incentive programs that reward targeted behaviors & results.
  • Manages workers comp & vehicle claims.
  • Manages return to work/restricted duty program.
  • Leads or participates in Safety Committee.
  • Manages the administration of motor vehicle records program
  • Manages the administration of operator training and safety training certifications.
  • Ability to conduct air monitoring for hazards in accordance with Industrial Hygiene (IH) best practices
  • Learn/perform Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) and administer on jobsites


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety, safety management, construction or related field, also qualified candidates in the nursing field are invited to submit their applications.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) (Preferred)
  • Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) (Preferred)
  • OSHA 500 certified.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction industry safety management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing & leading a structured safety program; self-performing general contractor or specialty contractor preferable.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of construction related OSHA, federal, state, and local regulatory standards, and ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement effective corrective practices.
  • Experience managing staff and third-party hired firms.
  • Must be an effective communicator, generating professionally written material and delivering effective verbal presentations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.


Machines/Tools/Equipment:

  • Must be proficient user of MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project).
  • Familiar with IH and PFT equipment
  • Must be able to operate safety equipment, monitoring devices, camera.


Working Conditions:

  • Extensive travel by vehicle.
  • Significant work at construction job sites, during all stages, in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to perform activities requiring use of arms and legs, including climbing ladders/scaffolding, lifting & handling materials, walking & balancing, stooping.
  • Must be able to speak, listen and understand detailed information through oral and written communication.
